Global Liberation Army Rebel

Remember the days when we played Command & Conquer Generals or Zero Hour, we're thrown into an epic (during that era) conflict between China, USA and the global terror network GLA. But sadly the infantry of each faction looks more like colorful sticks than battle-hardened soldiers, thus sucking out much of your anticipation to scream FOR THE CAUSE mid-game.

GLA Rebel in C&C: Doesn't look like an oppressed soldier with AK-47 to me. Looks like green-black stick man carrying a gray box that kills other colorful stick men.

So here's a quick [BP] remodel of an infantry based on Global Liberation Army's Rebel unit. With slight changes.
And also during the process I finally learned how to do bloom effect. It is a glowing/hazy shader effect overused/overrated in post 2008 games such as Age of Empire III or Far Cry. I tried it on and voila!:

A solo Rebel posing without bloom effect.

The same snapshot with bloom effect on overdose. Looks pretty but ridiculous.

A group photo of Rebels without bloom effect.

The same snapshot with bloom on, this time with bloom setting on Low. It's good as it help give more depth of field to the environment. Take note how the furthest Rebel's AK-47 seems more blur than the Rebel kneeling in front.

The render time for the bloomed scenes is a murder. 8-10 seconds for 1 frame. I'm on the process of figuring out how to apply the shader without the lag. Also take note that this first variant (yup there will be at least 3-5 variants for Rebels, no more clone army) is a beta and will undergo severe cosmetic makeover. Hopefully there won't be anymore stretched jpeg textures. Feel free to comment. Oh and you can click on the snapshots to get a bigger view.

Landkreuzer P.1000 Ratte

I was inspired by the sheer ingenuity of Nazi Germany tank designs from the formidable Panzer to the fearsome King Tiger. But one particular tank, the Landkreuzer P.1000, a mega tank that never made it past the drawing boards that caught my interest. Nicknamed the Ratte (Rat) this 1000 metric tons tank would have über-dominated other super tanks in the WWII theaters if it was ever built.

And here we have a P.1000 Landkreuzer Ratte model made up from scratch. If you think the skin looks familiar then there is a big chance you have played Company of Heroes. It only weighs 308KB due to simple design based on China's Emperor Overlord and the Soviet Union's Apocalypse tanks.
The twin cannons can move up and down 0°- 80° but the turret is fixed. I tried rotating it and it looked awfully out of balance when it rotated barely 90° to its sides. As with other Nazi tanks in CoH, 2 turret-mounted MG42 were added to ward off those pesky infantries.

Ham: Will continue to modify it to look even more epic and hopefully give it the ability to rotate its gun turret. Would want to see the P.1000 cruising the maps of CoH and running over columns of Sherman tanks and flattening the Allied HQ P:

Mil Mi-8T

This is a weekend project, so it's kinda crude compared to its Mi-24 counterpart. A low-poly Russian transport helicopter, I managed to reassigned the desired physics based on the older Mi-24 model after a long break from 3D modelling. It's smaller in size, 556KB compared to Mi-24's 783KB.

Ham: Honestly I feel disgusted by it and most likely will remodel it and make a better looking render.

Hyundai Getz 2005 Stock Edition

Finally I found a method to quickly and easily model a car: keep it simple (duh). So here's the first vehicle model that I used that method on, a Getz 2005 stock edition. And it's my current car as well ^^ (well, technically mine is a full body-kit edition, which I might consider posting it later).

Excuse the crudeness, I did not even intend to put it up as a video in the first place. I'll make sure it's better and more organized next time. Enjoy. Completed in 4 hours, Dec 25, 2007.

Simple, renders well (the compressed video quality might not show it), and only takes 338Kb (this is the stock edition, the full body-kit took 901Kb). A stepping stone for future simple modeled 4 wheel vehicles in the future.

Mil Mi-24

Can say this is my first fearsome model that even I myself is impressed with, and this flying tank is even more scarier when it is animated and after I added sounds to it. The model comes with 4 gunpods with 18-barreled rotary machine gun (lol, I modified that, real life it's only 4-barreled), functional and physic-obeying rotors, detailed cockpit and a desert camouflage. Completed Nov 20, 2007.

My FIRST fully modeled, fully functional and fully detailed helicopter. And for the first time it took me 8 consecutive hours to work on it (my average working time per model is around 2-4 hours, with interval rest in between). However the long work hours was worth it, considering I had to tweak the rotor physics (mostly, I had bugs with the tail rotor rotating at EVERY direction), implementing my newly improved glass physics on the cockpit, and because I was on a long boring holiday.

Why I made it? Well, firstly I started out with a simple box in 3DS Max (with nothing in mind), and then I challenged myself to make a helicopter since I never made one before. And the end product was this Mi-24 Hind (Hind is NATO reporting name, Soviet pilot call it Krokodil (Crocodile) and just look at the render and you'll know why). Things really do look nicer when you're doing it while you're dead bored :]

RPG-7

GAMMA rendered RPG-7 (June 21, 2007)

РПГ-7 or Rocket Propelled Grenade 7 is the second weaponry I made to compliment the AK-47. Instead of modeling it from scratch, I modeled it by modifying my ALPHA RPG-7 (which is like any other ALPHA models, too crude and simple).

Unskinned RPG-7, but I purposely re-color the parts as a guide for my RPG-7 skinning process

Now all I need is to master explosion physics to accompany the RPG. So far I'm still noob in the explosion area, especially the fiery bloom effect (in other words the 'blossoming' or just click here to see what I mean). But apart from that I have no trouble making things fly everywhere upon destruction as I've got that covered in BETA. Cut and paste Photoshop style is optional, but I'm a bit picky in term of realism and detail. Maybe I'll master it in DELTA (oh man I'm procrastinating again).
